Youth power: AAP begins internship programme

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched an internship program named ‘governance’ which will be monitored by none other than the former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. The party said it requires the power of youth to spearhead the movement to bring about clean governance across India.

‘The work will primarily involve research in governance-related-areas. There are only 20 internship seats available for the programme against which 31,000 application forms have been submitted as of now. The course will be for two months or more, depending on the availability of candidates.

They will get the opportunity to learn how AAP uses marketing research to know public’s point of view by conducting surveys and referendums, they will get exposure in work for political – economic – demographic profiling of parliamentary and assembly constituencies,’ said Gopal Mohan, programme-in-charge of AAP.

‘We need people from all walks of life. We need professionals for internet-related social media campaigns, social media marketing, branding and analysis, research work as well. They can also participate in various research projects,’ he added.

‘We have received around 31,000 applications after announcing this course on our social site,’ added Mohan.

He further said that the party does not have money power but it can fight corruption in a well-mannered way with the educated and ambitious youth who want to bring in a change from within,’ he further said.

‘I have applied for this internship programme and I was told that Arvind Kejriwal will monitor our course. The AAP leaders had informed us that we will first be asked to work on New Delhi constituency,’ said a candidate not willing to be named.

Earlier, after the Delhi assembly victory, the AAP had launched a political internship programme in Rajasthan.

It was open for the youth who are passionate about changing the political system and willing to work towards Swaraj (decentralisation of power).
