Conservative leader Badenoch meets victims

london: The grooming gang issue is again dominating the headlines in theUK after Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch met survivors of grooming gangs inOldham and Rotherham. She described the meeting as “quite shocking”.

In different areas of Rotherham and Oldham in England, someyoung men of Pakistani-origin used to ruse girls aged between nine and 10. Theseyoung girls were then gangraped by these men, their relatives and friends foryears. The authorities also did not act when these women reported their abuseas they allegedly tried to avoid hurting cultural sensitivities in the UK.

The media reports have revealed the extent of sexual abuse andviolence used by the members of these gangs, who were predominantly Pakistani.However, people are demanding a probe across the UK to find out the real extentof their nefarious activities.

Numerous victims silently accepted the torture only to come outlater share their ordeal. Fourteen-year-old Jessica, in an interview, saidthat her mental state was “terrible”. Lucy Lowe, 16, was also a victim of the gangand died in fire with her family. Lucy’s killer was a 26-year-old taxi driverAzahar Mehmood. Mehmood was a member of the gang. He was later released becauseof these sensitivity. The beginning of the incident became increasingly publica few years ago. A 15-year-old minor, Scarlett was raped a few days ago. Badenoch has been demanding a national inquiry into groominggangs, but has faced criticism. Security minister Dan Jarvis said he understood “delivering the justice that these victims deserve.”
