He promised a tech-enabled Delhi to bring radical reforms to restore the pride of the national capital city.
‘I will go to any corner of the world to bring the most recent software and implement it in such a manner to ensure maximum transparency at the interface of the government and citizens,’ said Harsh Vardhan, adding that the ‘interface’ of citizens and government is the high risk zone of corruption.
He further explained that at the interface there is always exchange of services or goods or money between people and government.
‘There is need to curb this transaction of services, goods and money at the interface by a fully transparent use of latest technologies,’ he added. ‘We will bring transparency by using modern technology,’ he added.
Vardhan spoke in favour of the Lokpal but emphasised the need to strengthen existing systems to tackle corruption.
‘We have to strengthen existing institutions for their optimal utilisation. We have to make such a system so that people don’t indulge in corrupt practices and also work on a faster judicial system to punish the corrupt,’ he added.
Vardhan reminded people of his work on the pulse polio programme and promised that he will develop a similar strategy to combat corruption.
‘The health policy on pulse polio is remembered in the world as “Delhi Model”. We have to frame such a policy on combating corruption,’ said Vardhan.
He also suggested a technological solution for the power crisis in Delhi - solar energy.
‘Every house receives enough solar energy sufficient for its requirement and also to sell to neighbours. The solar power must be tapped to overcome power crisis in which Delhi government failed completely,’ added Vardhan.
He claimed to give a ‘people-friendly government’ to Delhiites and restore the ‘lost pride’ of the city which, he said, is piled up with ‘miseries’ during 15 years ‘misrule’ of Congress government.
