Two men get 3 years for attempted murder

Two men have been sentenced to three years in jail each for trying to kill one of their distant relatives by battering him for over three hours after abducting him and confining him in a factory.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Rajneesh Kumar Gupta sentenced the duo, 35-year-old Bhupender Singh and 40-year-old Narender Singh, to jail term after holding them guilty of trying to kill him after abducting him.

'Keeping in view the facts and seriousness of the offense, the accused Bhupender and Narender are sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years each,' the court said, while also imposing a fine Rs 4,000 on each.

According to the prosecution on 14 February 2009, the duo had forced victim Jasbir Singh to accompany them to their factory, where they tied him up with a telephone cord and beat him up for hours altogether, while also poking him with a screwdriver as Jasbir allegedly used to tease their niece.

Jasbir had lodged a compliant with the police after managing to flee from his captors' clutches.
