To woo traders, Khetan vows to simplify taxation to ensure a hassle free business

Promising radical changes in the taxation and trade rules to the traders of Ranjeet Nagar area near Patel Nagar Metro station, Khetan said, ‘Today you have to pay fat salaries and fees to lawyers and chartered accountants to run your businesses. The rules of taxation are very complicated, we will make them too easy to be understood by common man so that it would be easy to take care of your taxation and accounts.’

Dressed in red stripped shirt and black pant, Khetan promised traders that if AAP is voted to power government machinery would act as helper to traders, not obstacles. Khetan also explained his party’s stand to oppose foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail sector and how BJP is also secretary pushing for FDI in retail.

Sensing the mood of the people, Khetan started raising issues of common man as he entered into the unauthorised colony under the New Delhi parliamentary seat for the campaigning. He raised issues of corruption, police excesses, bribing by municipal officers from street vendors, weekly markets, toilets, and all the issues concerned with lower class. A group of people welcomed him with garlands and shouting slogans such as bhrashtachar ka ek hi kal, Kejriwal Kejriwal (only Kejriwal can eradicate corruption); Congress, BJP dokha hai, desh bacha lo mauka hai (Congress and BJP both are deceit, here is a chance to save the country) and many more.

Spelling out the achievements of AAP government in Delhi, Khetan said, ‘During the 49 days of AAP government police officers had stopped taking bribes. The middlemen had vanished from the government offices.’ He also took the opportunity to turn the tables on media and alleged that some media houses have being sold out to Ambani and allegedly projecting Modi as ‘man of development’.

‘We are not the politicians who travel in helicopters and land on stage to preach voters,’ said Khetan promising to be with public and establish direct communication with them after being elected. He was accompanied by local AAP MLA Veena Anand and some local AAP leaders during his roadshow. Khetan never forgot to caution the voters not to come in the false promises of Congress candidate and two time sitting MP Ajay Maken as he had done ‘nothing’ for the last ten years for the area.
