The three AAP MLAs who went on a trip to Goa in September for an alleged meeting with BJP leaders, are likely to lose their tickets. The party is also likely to issue tickets to 35 new candidates. However, all speculations regarding Arvind Kejriwal likely to change his seat, have been turned down.
The three MLAs, Dharmendra Singh Koli (Seemapuri constituency), Ashok Kumar Chauhan (Ambedkar Nagar constituency) and Prakash Jarwal (Deoli constituency) had taken a flight from Delhi on 22 September and had allegedly gone to Goa to meet a BJP leader in connection to join or support BJP to form the government in Delhi. But all such talks were dismissed senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia about MLAs switching over to BJP. He clarified that it was solely for purposes of travel.
Sources further revealed that the party is not happy with these MLAs as they had caused embarrassment with their action and had sent a wrong message to the people. Meanwhile, it was even added that Trilokpuri seat MLA Raju Dhingan is likely to get a ticket as he has done good work in his constituency. A source also claimed that he was very active in Trilokpuri when the communal clash happened and took the situation in his stride despite negative media reports against him which could have indirectly diminished his chances to get a ticket for the forthcoming elections.
‘Raju has done good work in his constituency but he does not know how to handle the media. Now, we are considering his candidature and we have asked local AAP volunteers and workers to give their feedback,’ said a party source.
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Ashutosh confirmed that Kejriwal would be contesting from his current seat and will continue to be the chief ministerial candidate in the forthcoming elections.
The sources further added that in the next list, only 13 candidates who contested in the last election are likely to get a ticket. Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birla are also supposed to get confirmed tickets for the polls. AAP on Monday announced its first list of 22 candidates.
