Students demand FYUP rollback while teachers sit on hunger-strike

We are protesting against the draconian diktat of UGC which strangulates the autonomy of the University and in the process and has put the career of 54000 students who have gone to the second year of FYUP under jeopardy,’ said Aditya Narayan Misra, Former DUTA President and Member of Executive Council, DU. ‘More than 300 teachers are on 24-hour-hunger strike. We appeal to the Prime Minister to intervene and help uphold the autonomy of the university.’   

The groups like ABVP, All India Student’s Association (AISA) and all demanded Vice Chancellor’s resignation. ‘We are expecting a thorough investigation of the VC office on a number of issues: funds sanctioned for infrastructural development to accommodate the additional OBC students, funds for the laptops issued to the students enrolled under FYUP and all such cases,’ said Sunny Kumar, Delhi Secretary, AISA.
