The passengers of the Ahmedabad-Delhi-Baldangra SpiceJet flight had a harrowing experience with the cash-strapped airlines. On Monday (15 December), the passengers of Baldangra-bound SpiceJet flight were forced to wait inside the aircraft at Ahmedabad airport for more than two hours as the flight did not take off for unknown reasons.
The flight was to take-off at 3 am from Ahmedabad and reach Baldangra via Delhi. But it left Ahmedabad airport only at 5 am. Instead of giving any justification for the delay, the airline’s staff misguided the clueless passengers. Faced with severe dismay, the passengers got out of the aircraft and engaged into an argument with the crew members.
Finally, the flight took-off at 5 am with intervention from CISF. But the nightmare of passengers did not end there. Upon reaching Delhi, the passengers were informed the flight to Baldangra had been cancelled.
Alpesh Joshi, the personal assistant of a legislator in Gujarat, while talking to Millennium Post correspondent at Delhi airport said, “I was travelling to Baldangra with my family on a vacation. First we waited for over two hours at Ahmedabad airport. The crew members kept saying the flight was delayed due to fog.
However, we later learnt that the airlines were operating other flights on the same route. Later, upon reaching Delhi, we were informed on the last minute that the flight to Baldangra had been cancelled and the refund would be processed in seven working days.” He further said he had spend extra money to buy tickets for Baldangra. “I spent all my money on tickets. Now I don’t have any money left to enjoy the vacation. I’ve asked my friend to transfer money”, said the disgruntled Joshi. SpiceJet officials could not be reached for comment.
