The Election Commission will soon announce the dates for fresh polls in Delhi. The fifth Delhi assembly will be suspended in less than a year’s time, and the political parties have tightened their belts as the city will possibly witness fresh polls within six months. The political temperature in Delhi shot up on Tuesday with all major parties — AAP, BJP and Congress, claiming to win next elections.
‘The upcoming election will see a contest between BJP and the entire opposition. The people of Delhi had opted for a new experiment in the last elections but Arvind Kejriwal betrayed them. The people of Delhi will take him to task for this betrayal through the ballot,’ said Satish Upadhayay, state chief of BJP. He also claimed that the party has started preparing for poll by convening a meeting of office bearers under the chairmanship of Delhi BJP in charge Prabhat Jha on Tuesday evening. ‘Power, water, development of unauthorised colonies and houses for slums would be our main issues in next
election,’ he added.
Taking a jibe at AAP he added, ‘the people of Delhi are now well aware of how so-called activists raise the issues, provoke people’s emotions and take advantage for their personal benefit.’
Meanwhile, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also vowed to get full majority in the next elections by exposing the ‘corruption’ among BJP cadres and government. ‘We will win 45 seats in the election,’ claimed Kejriwal. The party will focus on its core issues like corruption, Jan Lokpal, and crony capitalism among others. ‘BJP is engaged in divisive politics by spreading hatred among Hindu and Muslim communities. They would be exposed in this election,’ he said adding that Congress in not even in fight. ‘Congress is nowhere, our fight is only with BJP,’ said Manish Sisodia.
Refuting his claims, Congress claimed to get full majority. ‘The poor performance of Congress in last elections was due to unrealistic sloganeering by AAP. But people of Delhi are now more mature and Congress will get majority on its own’, said Arvinder Lovely.
