In the meeting of the standing committee of South DMC on Thursday, chairperson, Rajesh Gehlot, approved over 60 items of business to be transacted in one go. These items include over 100 projects of road construction and maintenance besides construction of school buildings and drainage.
‘These projects were pending due to application of model code of conduct in the city in the run up to the Delhi assembly elections, said Rajesh Gehlot, newly elected MLA from Matiala assembly segment.
Gehlot chaired the last meeting of standing committee on Thursday. Generally a meeting of the standing committee is usually called once every two weeks, but this was the second meeting in four days. ‘I appreciate their hard work. The leaders should always show this kind of hard work and quickness to clear development projects and take decisions for public,’ said Farhad Suri, leader of opposition in South DMC, adding it’s the right of the chairperson to convene meetings.
Similarly, North DMC chairperson Ram Kishan Singhal, who is an elected MLA from Adarsh Nagar assembly seat, has convened the next meeting of the standing committee on Monday, five days after their previous meeting. ‘Both the meetings, standing committee and house, will be on the same day. The meeting of the standing committee will start at 12 and that of house starts at 2 pm,’ said YS Maan, director of press information, North DMC.
Here, besides chairman, leader of house, Mahinder Nagar, who is also a member in the standing committee, has been elected as a MLA from Wazirpur assembly seat. In this meeting also over 60 items are listed for approval. But the meeting of the house will not be a hurried one’.
