Gurgaon Police registered a case against a 55-year-old lawyer for brutally beating his neighbour’s servant for breaking the lawyer’s flower pot while reversing a car. According to the information received, the servant was a 21-year-old native from Nepal, identified as Keshav, who had recently come to Gurgaon to work as a domestic help for Deepak Malhotra, a businessman.
The incident took place when Keshav was reversing Deepak’s car and by mistake bumped the car into the lawyer’s flower pot placed outside his house. The lawyer brutally assaulted and injured the servant, following which, the servant committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. “The moment my servant came back after cleaning my car, our neighbour who is a lawyer in the Supreme Court, called him down and starting thrashing him outside his house,” said Deepak Malhotra.
This case infuriated many other servants hailing from Nepal, who placed the deceased’s body outside the lawyer’s house, to ask for immediate action in this case.
Deepak immediately informed the servant’s family about the incident and informed the police.
The police have also registered a complaint against Kher (the lawyer) under Section 306 (Abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to sources, the post-mortem reports revealed bruises on the body and suicide by hanging.
“We have registered a case and have started the investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem. The reports have come but I will not be able to disclose the reports right now,” said the SHO, DLF-I police station.
Since the incident took place on Sunday afternoon, the accused has been absconding and police are trying to nab him but have not been able to do so yet.
