Colours for all

Last year, breaking stereotype, widows of Vridavan celebrated Holi after 400 years at the Gopinath Temple. Amid 1,200 kg of gulaal and 1,500 kg of rose and marigold petals, the widows, mostly banished from mainstream celebrations, embraced a new life of modernity and dignity. In true spirit, the festival of colours prove to be instrumental in reducing differences perpetuated through generations of inequality. As Holi approaches again, we must embrace all, whether widowed, impoverished or communally different.
