The Beatles Ashram, Rishikesh

In February 1968, The Beatles visited the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Rishikesh to learn Transcendental Meditation and denounce the use of chemicals. Motivated primarily by George Harrison’s commitment, this visit gathered widespread attention and was an important pedestal to attract Western interest to Indian spirituality. Today, the ashram gathers spiritual enthusiasts, artists and travellers from across the globe.
