Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay said that this is one of the biggest disasters of the world, and central government should declare it national disaster on seeing its impact and casualties that shocked entire nation. Every organisation is voluntarily working in the rescue and rehabilitation operations at their own level. Talking from Guptkashi, the MP further added that the condition of roads is still bad and it will take time to resume normal life in the disaster-hit villages in the hill state.Â
He said that he will adopt a disaster-hit village in Kedarnath valley and try to rebuilt it as soon as possible.
Talking from Gauchar, Kedarnath MLA Shaila Rani Rawat said that the scale of destruction is beyond the imagination of any one, and it’s not possible for state government to control the situation immediately. At this moment of tragedy of high gravity, all political parties should rise above party differences and joined hands for rescue and evacuation operations. In an emotional tone, she added that I appeal to all mediapersons to be sensitive at this critical moment and avoid exaggeration of tragic news. Â
Asha Ram Dangwal, HOD of Journalism and Mass Communication Department, Srinagar said that flood in Alaknanda destroyed many houses in lower Bhaktiyana and SSB camps in the town. Local people came forward and cooperate full-heartedly with rescue teams to the various relief camps operating in the flood-hit area. He reaveled that the course of Alaknanda river has changed after inundating many lower parts of the town. He stressed on the point that to aver major catastrophe in the future, there is urgent need to construct protection wall on both sides of the river. Previously, for the construction of dams, trees were mercilessly cut-off, which was also a contributing factor to the river ravage.
