On duty LNJP CMO was thrashed

Chief medical officer (CMO) of Delhi Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) was allegedly assaulted in the hospital premises on June 20 <g data-gr-id="24">mid-night</g> by a patient’s attendants. The victim was identified as Dr Lalit Tanwar. He was assaulted in <g data-gr-id="25">emergency</g> ward by a group of four boys when he was performing his duty. According to hospital staff,  the CMO had sustained multiple injuries.
As per <g data-gr-id="28">tha</g> FIR lodged in Indraprastha police station, the incident took placed on Saturday (June 20) late night when Dr. Lalit Tanwar, CMO in LNJP Casualty ward was attending some patients, at the same time one of the patient’s attendants, who was identified as Karan Vaid, hit Dr. Tanwar and also pushed him from his chair. When Tanwar was trying to protect himself and shouted for help, another accused Deepak Vaid also physically assaulted him from behind and hurled abuses at  him. In the meantime, hospital staff and police rushed to the spot and intervened into the matter.Â
Interestingly, none of the hospital staff was ready to talk over the issue, many of them even denied to have the knowledge of such incident had happened in the hospital premises. When asked, senior hospital officials denied to comment over the incident.
Police filed the case under the Section 186/353/34 I of IPC and arrested the accused.
The injured doctor is likely to join back his duty on Monday as he is on leave since the incident. Doctors at government hospitals were on two-day strike last week in protest of such attacks on hospital staff.Â
