NOIDA benefits Jaya by cancelling plot ownership

‘The plot was allocated under industrial quota which was later transferred to Jaya Bachchan for which she was not eligible. The cancellation is actually an escape route for Bachchan,’ said Mahesh Sharma, Noida MLA to Millennium Post. Sharma is also BJP MP candidate from Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

As per the records of the authority, the plot situated in sector 44 was allotted to Romesh Sharma Films Pvt Ltd in 1994 in which Bachchan was also director at that time. Later, Sharma in an application to the authority, requested transfer of the ownership of the plot to Bachchan as per the rules of the authority. In 2007, the authority issued a notice to Bachchan to get the plot registered on her name but she did not turn up. In 2008, the authority issued check list as a last warning to complete the formalities. ‘As per the provision of the authority, we can cancel the allotment of the plot if the owner did not turn up to complete the formalities three years after issuing the check list. The authority has taken action as per rules,’ said RS Yadav, OSD in Noida. According to sources in the residential department of the authority, there is no due on the plot and entire payment had been made but only transfer of ownership was not completed. The minimum value of the 450 sqm residential plot as per circle rate is around Rs 3.51 crore.

However, as per the registration rules of the authority the aggrieved person in such cases can still apply for registration by paying Rs 36 lakh fine plus ten percent of the original allotment charge as fee besides five per cent of stamp duty. But according to sources in the authority she is unlikely to turn up due to eligibility criterion.
