No takers for colleges with 100 per cent cut-off mark

Due to the callousness of certain Delhi University colleges in deciding the cut-off per centage for admission, there are no takers for the ones with 100 per cent cut-off. Three colleges have set 100 per cent cut-off for B.Sc. (Computer Science), and till the end of the second day of admission, there were few takers.

DU admission began after a week’s delay on 1 July.  Three colleges, Acharya Narendra Dev, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma (ARSD) and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM), have set 100 per cent cut-off for the computer science programme for non-science aspirants. ‘Only two students have taken admission in ARSD and one student has taken admission in Acharya Narendra Dev college in B.Sc course till now,’ said sources.

The three off campus colleges surprised everybody by giving a perfect score as cut-off. When principals were asked about the same, they claimed they have reasons to support their move.
‘The range is from 97 per cent to 100 per cent. For girls, it is 97 per cent. Last year, we saw a lot of students seeking admission under computer science course. But there are not enough seats for the same. Parents and students got angry. This decision is taken by the admission committee. We have to set extra eligibility criteria. With more students applying, more teachers are needed, as also better infrastructure. With roll back of FYUP, seats have decreased. Hence, 100 per cent was set as cut-off,’ said Gyantosh K Jha, Principal, ARSD.
