No reservation for Delhiites in DDA housing scheme

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will announce roll out its flagship housing scheme- 2014, on Friday. The board meeting of the authority on Thursday gave final approval to the housing scheme but scrapped the provision of 80% reservation to Delhiities.

‘There is no reservation for Delhiites in this scheme as the board of the authority has rejected our proposal to reserve 80% seats for the Delhi residents. The authority has approved rest of all the proposals of the scheme including rates,’ said Balbinder Kumar, vice chairman of DDA.

‘We are going to announce the launch of the scheme on Friday at 11.30 am,’ he added. The meeting was chaired by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung who is chairman of the DDA board.

‘The clause under which the registration of the flats will be done after five of the allocation has been approved by the board to demoralise speculators and attract needy people,’ added Kumar.

The housing scheme is being referred to as the biggest housing scheme of Delhi by DDA, and would have 25,600 flats on offer out of which 24,044 flats are single bedroom ones. These flats are spread across Rohini, Narela, and Dwarka, priced at Rs 14-15 lakh to Rs 1 crore. The DDA has planned over 10 brochures for the scheme.
