Chennai Airport's new terminal building, which was recently inaugurated by Vice-President Hamid Ansari, will become fully operational from Wednesday as Air India and Jet Airways start their operations from it. Indigo Airlines and Go Air will shift their operations to the new building on Thursday.
In view of commencement of operations from the new building, the city side traffic pattern for domestic operations will be changed with immediate effect for passenger convenience.
From now on, all vehicular traffic for domestic arrival or departure will turn towards the right after entry in to the Airport (below the fly-over) from the GST Road signal and will be routed through the new terminal building at the ground floor level. Sign boards are available at all locations at airport for the guidance of drivers.
Vehicles carrying domestic passengers will take the elevated corridor ramp (on right hand side) on entering the airport premises.
On dropping the passengers, the vehicles would exit from the new international terminal's existing ramp to join the service road of GST.
Go Air, Indigo Airlines and Air India would operate from the East Wing of the check-in area to facilitate entry from gate no 1.
Jet Air and Spice Jet would operate from the West Wing of check-in area and would facilitate entry from gate no 3. However, for international flights there will not be any change and the existing traffic pattern will continue.
