In an effort to mobilise its cadre for the general elections in 2014 the Bharatiya Janata Party has now planned to hold nation-wide meeting of urban and rural booth level workers with the party leadership. The Sankalp Samagam, will commence from September this year and will be held in each state. The focus of the party will be the assembly bound states and states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where the BJP hopes to increase its tally.
The Sankalp Samagam will be attended by BJP president Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. Other leaders whose names have been finalised include former BJP president Nitin Gadkari and BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
According to the BJP leaders, only one meeting will be held in each state.
The party has already held a meeting of booth workers in Gwalior last month. It was in there when Advani said that Modi's development of Gujarat is noteworthy, but it is Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who deserves recognition because he turned around a poor state.
