Sittong: 55-year-old tourist from Purva Bardhaman dies

Darjeeling: A tourist from Purva Bardhaman died at a homestay in Sittong on Wednesday. 55-year-old Raj Narayan De, had arrived at the homestay in Sittong in the Kurseong Subdivision along with 7 others on Tuesday.

“We had dinner at night together. In the morning when we had gone to wake him up to click photographs of the Kanchenjunga, we found him senseless. We rushed him to the nearest Rambi Block Primary Health Centre where the doctors declared

him brought dead. We were scheduled to return to Bardhaman on Thursday”, stated Manoj Majhi, one of

the group members. The group consisted of friends and acquaintances.

The police arrived at the Rambi Block primary health centre and sent the corpse for post mortem to Kalimpong Hospital.

“The person had complained of uneasiness on Tuesday evening and was given medicines and inhaler,” stated the owner of the homestay.
