Bhopal: Under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha AbhiyaN (PM-JANMAN), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav flagged off 66 mobile medical units (MMUs) for 1268 tribal remote villages in the state identified under the campaign on Monday.

These MMUs will cover 87 tribal blocks in 21 districts of the state.

Addressing the flagging-off ceremony of the MMUs at the CM House, the Chief Minister emphasized that strengthening health services is the top priority of the state government, and the aim of launching the units is to provide excellent health services to every corner of the state.

He highlighted that robust health services and education are essential for any region’s development and the mobile units will make health services easily accessible in remote and difficult-to-reach areas.

“The MMUs will provide essential health services such as OPD, diagnosis, treatment, and medicines to people in remote and underserved areas”, CM Yadav said. “Each unit will be equipped with trained healthcare personnel and state-of-the-art medical equipment, he added.

He expressed confidence that this initiative would significantly improve the state’s health standards.

On this occasion, the CM affirmed that no shortage of resources would be allowed in strengthening health services and that the government is committed to making the state a leader in healthcare.

He also said his government is making efforts to ensure a medical college in every district of the state, with advanced equipment and sufficient healthcare staff. He announced that approval had been granted for the recruitment of over 46,000 healthcare workers and directed the speedy completion of the process.

Yadav also said that the MMUs will serve approximately 3,12,246 people in 1268 tribal villages in the identified 87 blocks under PM-JANMAN.

The campaign, PM-JANMAN, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2023 to ensure 100 percent saturation of government schemes in particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) majority areas.

Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla also addressed the function.

At the outset of the function, Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Sandeep Yadav, shed light on the MMUs and mentioned that a proposal for 16 more units had been sent to the central government under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.

MoS Narendra Shivaji Patel and director of National Health Misson Dr Saloni Sadana were present on this occasion.

Each unit will have trained healthcare staff, including a doctor, nurse, ANM/MPW, lab technician, and physiotherapist, offering diagnostic services, essential medicines, and health supplies. Services will cover communicable disease treatment, OPD care, antenatal/postnatal care, high-risk pregnancy management, detection of chronic conditions, family planning, mental health counselling, elderly care, and emergency services. Units will be GPS-equipped for transparent monitoring.
