Shimla: Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur on Monday turned 60 and received a stream of visitors including party MLAs and senior leaders to greet him at his residence in Shimla.

But, of all the surprised visitors he had was cabinet minister Vikramaditya Singh, who drove to him and shared the birthday cake greeting him with wishes to keep serving the people of the state.

After this both the leaders went into the room to talk. There was a conversation between the two leaders for about 10 minutes and after this Vikramaditya Singh also addressed the media.

Even as Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu also called him over phone and several other party leaders including BJP national president J P Nadda also send him birthday greetings. “Today, I embrace the title of a senior citizen, but my commitment to serve the people of this state remains steadfast and unwavering. Age is merely a number, and I feel more energetic and deeply dedicated to fulfilling my duties,” he shared with the media

While interacting with the media in Shimla, Vikramaditya Singh said that he had come to Jairam Thakur’s house today to congratulate him. The political views and ideology are on one side and etiquette is on the other. “There is no need to draw any political meaning from this. I have come here just to congratulate a senior political leader of the state. It’s a normal courtesy, I have learnt from my ancestors like Virbhadra Singh ji” he said

Vikramaditya Singh said that Jairam Thakur also had good relations with his father Virbhadra Sing ji. There is a need for healthy traditions in politics.
