India set to display military prowess & rich culture heritage on January 26

New Delhi: The nation is set to witness the grandeur of the 76th Republic Day Parade on January 26. This prestigious event, a blend of India’s rich heritage and modern achievements, will follow the traditional route from Vijay Chowk to the National Stadium along Kartavya Path. President Droupadi Murmu will take the salute, marking the highlight of the ceremonial occasion.
The parade will begin at 10:30 AM with a National Salute, extending over 90 minutes, encapsulating the story of India’s heritage, military strength, and technological advancements.
A Salute to Martyrs
Before the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in paying homage to the brave martyrs of India by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. This solemn ceremony will set the tone for the day, underscoring the sacrifices made for the country’s progress and security.
Showcasing Armed Forces’ Prowess
The Indian Army will take center stage with an impressive display of a Mounted Column, eight Mechanised Columns, and six Marching Contingents. The Mechanised Columns will feature advanced military systems, including the BHISHMA (Tank T90), SARATH (Infantry Carrying Vehicle BMP-II), and NAMIS (Nag Missile System), among others. These cutting-edge technologies will underline India’s growing self-reliance in defence.
Commanding the Parade
Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar, VSM, General Officer Commanding Delhi Area, will serve as the Parade Commander, with Maj Gen Sumit Mehta, VSM, Chief of Staff, Delhi Area, as the Parade Second-in-Command. The event will open with the heralding of musical instruments and a spectacular shower of flower petals by helicopters of the Indian Air Force.
International Presence
Adding to the occasion, a special contingent from Indonesia, the country of the Chief Guest, will participate in the parade. This highlights India’s commitment to strengthening international ties and fostering cultural exchange.
Diverse Tableaux and Performances
The parade will feature an eclectic mix of displays, including new-generation equipment, marching contingents from various Army regiments, and tableaux from the Department of Military Affairs, Veterans, and other departments. The Indian Navy and Air Force will also present their tableaux, showcasing their capabilities and contributions. Additionally, a motorcycle display by the Corps of Signals (Army) will enthral the audience with daring stunts.
Technological Marvels on Display
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will exhibit its latest innovations, including the Raksha Kavach and the Pralay Weapon System. These advancements underscore India’s focus on indigenous defence production and cutting-edge research.
Grand Finale: The Flypast
The event will conclude with a breathtaking flypast by the Indian Air Force, featuring 40 aircraft and three Dorniers from the Indian Coast Guard. This aerial display will serve as a fitting finale.
