Himachal Pradesh will become a fully self-reliant state by 2027, says Sukhu

Bilaspur: In a remarkable show of strength to mark his two years in power, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu declared that Himachal Pradesh will become a fully self-reliant state by 2027 on completion of Congress’s five-year term.
He dared the BJP against making attempts to topple his government. The government has mandate of the people with 40 MLAs in the 68-member House and the people of the state will not tolerate any bid to cut short the period marked by “Vyvastha Parivartan to self-reliant in resources”.
Addressing a massive rally at Luhnu ground of Bilaspur—the home town of BJP National Presi-dent J P Nadda, Sukhu said he was not afraid of the Opposition BJP, which had been dreaming of dislodging him from the power, after having suffered defeat in the 2022 poll.
“The BJP managed to sway six Congress MLAs, who also voted against their own party in the Rajya Sabha elections. However, when the Speaker disqualified them, even the Supreme Court did reinstate their memberships. Eventually, they lost in the bypolls. It’s a matter of divine jus-tice that the people rejected them, and now they are left with nothing. It was a good riddance for
me. My government remains stable and will continue to serve the people of Himachal Pra-desh with good governance,” he stated.
The Chief Minister, who earlier also launched six new schemes at the occasion, said the gov-ernment was committed to the overall and equitable development in the state, following the principles laid down by Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership. “We would not let the state’s wealth to be misused and would ensure its equal distribution among all sections of socie-ty. This is Rahul Gandhi’s vision and our government was steadfastly working towards it,” he stated.
He reflected on his 40-year journey in public service, expressing gratitude for the opportunities provided by the Congress party. On 11th December, 2022, a son of a farmer and government employee took the oath as Chief Minister. This was not just a celebration of two years but a re-affirmation of our mission. He said that our true celebration would be in 2027 when Himachal Pradesh would become self-reliant,he said
He rejected the criticism of the BJP on failed poll guarantees and said the government has ful-filled five guarantees and work on the next was underway.
The government implemented the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for 1.36 lakh employees, despite facing pressure from the central government.
During last year’s monsoon season, Himachal Pradesh experienced an unprecedented disaster. However, the government successfully evacuated 75,000 tourists and provided a special relief package of Rs. 4,500 crore to the affected families but the Central government was yet to release the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) funds to Himachal Pradesh, he said.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that his government was focusing on strengthening the rural economy and enhancing the price of milk. The cow’s milk was increased to Rs 45 per litre and buffalo’s milk to Rs 55 per litre. The daily wage of MGNREGA was increased by Rs 60, taking it to Rs 300. Apart from this the state government has purchased 4,000 quintals of maize grown through natural farming.
Despite the Central government’s step-motherly treatment the state has managed to generate additional revenue of Rs 2,200 crore, he said.
