Geeta Jayanti celebrations witness Guinness World Record in MP for chanting shlokas in unison

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a mega public welfare campaign and a festival on Wednesday to mark Geeta Jayanti and the completion of his one-year term in office.
At the state-level event of the launching ceremony of the campaign in Bhopal, the Guinness World Record for the largest chanting of ‘Shreemad Bhagavad Gita’ shlokas in unison by thousands of acharyas to celebrate the international Geeta Mahotsava.
Speaking at the event, CM Yadav highlighted the global reverence for the Shreemad Bhagavad Gita, stating that it is the most searched religious text on Google. The Gita serves as a guide to life, offering teachings on duty, devotion, and peace, he said.
The CM emphasised the essence of Sanatan culture and Gita’s universal relevance in addressing life’s challenges, advocating the principle, “Victory to Dharma – Destruction of Adharma – Harmony Among Beings – Welfare of the World.”
Delighting over the confluence of the Geeta Jayanti celebration, and the launch of the campaign and the festival, CM Yadav hailed it as historic.
The CM said that the ‘Jan Kalyan Parv’, scheduled from December 11 to 26 will witness the inauguration and foundation-laying of numerous development projects.
“The CM ‘Jan Kalyan Abhiyan’, spanning from December 11, 2024, to January 26, 2025, aims to provide new opportunities for prosperity to the poor, youth, farmers, and women”, Yadav said.
As part of the campaign, 34 beneficiary-oriented schemes, 11 target-based programmes, and 63 services will be delivered to citizens through door-to-door surveys.
“The campaign seeks to connect every eligible individual with welfare schemes”, Yadav said.
During the launch event, Rs 1,572 crore and an additional Rs 350 crore for gas cylinder refills were transferred to the accounts of 1.28 crore women beneficiaries under the state-run ‘Ladli Behna Yojna’.
Additionally, Rs 334.38 crore was transferred to 55 lakh beneficiaries under the Social Security Pension Scheme in a single click.
The Chief Minister honoured saints, acharyas and religious scholars who had participated in the chanting of Geeta’s shlokas and graced the event.
The event marked a historic achievement, as thousands of acharyas chanted shlokas from the Shreemad Bhagavad Gita in unison. Over 7,000 participants, including 3,721 scholars and students, set a Guinness World Record for the largest collective recital of the Gita, with the certificate presented during the event.
The programme also served as a platform to commemorate one year of the state government’s achievements, with initiatives to uplift marginalised groups, enhance development, and foster cultural pride.
