More rains expected in next few days

The present rain in the city is due to formation of cyclone over Arabian sea sending South Western moist wind towards North West India causing rain in Delhi and nearby areas,'said a senior officer of MeT department in Delhi. The MeT department recorded 2.6 mm rain in nine hours from Saturday morning till 5.30 pm which was 1.3 mm in the previous 24 hours. The weathermen have predicted light rain with thunderstorms on Sunday with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 38 and 27 degree Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, the recent rain which started in the city on Thursday has brought down temperature by around 10 degree Celsius. Delhi which was sheltering under over 46 degree Celsius in the first half of the week had a pleasant weather at maximum temperature of 37.1 degree Celsius on Saturday which was two points below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.5 degree Celsius which too was two notches below normal.

‘Another spell of heat waves will hit the city as soon as the effect of cyclone ends. The new spell of heat waves would continue till the pre-monsoon showers which are expected by 29 June,’ added the MeT official. The humidity too went up to 55 to 83 percent on Saturday.
