While rival parties are busy scheming a favourable electoral combination to take on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Varanasi, the BJP has quietly slipped in Bhojpuri film star and party candidate from North-East Delhi. The Delhi unit of BJP is finalising the names of workers having influence and interest in Poorvanchal and their homes states, in order to send reinforcement for local cadres.
‘We are spreading a national message in local dialect,’ said Manoj Tiwari to Millennium Post. Tiwari addressed five public meetings in Varanasi and neighbouring Buxar seat on Monday besides a foot-march in the surrounding villages. Tiwari and his team used the local Bhojpuri dialect to connect with voters. A leader of Delhi BJP’s Poorvanchal unit, Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari, who has accompanied the Bhojpuri star on the campaign, said they left Delhi for Varanasi in a chartered plane on Sunday and campaigned throughout the region.
‘On Tuesday, Manoj Tiwari will address public meetings for Shatrughan Singh in Patna Sahib seat and for Ramkripal Yadav in neighbouring Patliputra seat. He also campaigned for BJP Mahila Morcha chief Saroj Pandey in Durg (Chhatishgarh),’ said Sanjeev Tiwari.
Besides Tiwari’s campaign in Varanasi, leaders close to leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley have also left to boost his election campaign in Amritsar. ‘Delhi MLA from Vishwas Nagar OP Sharma, Delhi BJP vice president Ashish Sood and some other leaders have already left to campaign in Amritsar,’ said a senior BJP leader in Delhi. Sharma has been Jaitley’s close political aide for a long time.
