The city police arrested the main accused in Pataudi gang-rape case on Tuesday morning. Accused Om Prakash, alias Sonu, was arrested after a raid was conducted by the police teams. Till now, total three accused out of the five have been arrested in this case and two are still absconding. Sonu (24) was arrested after an informer’s tip-off that he is hiding in Sohna.
According to the complaint filed by the 22 year-old married women, Sonu was the main accused in the Pataudi gang-rape case as he is the one who stopped the victim on pretext of offering her a job and called in the other accused who then abducted and raped the woman.Â
Two men including an Army man Sandeep (23) and his friend Girwar (45) were already arrested inÂ
the matter on Saturday night while two other accused are still at large.
All the accused hail from Janaula village in Pataudi. The police registered a case under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 376 D (gang-rape) and 3/33/89 of the SC Act.
The woman belonging to the Pataudi village was abducted and gang-raped by five men at around 4pm on Saturday.Â
The victim is a married woman who was visiting her parents in Pataudi. She stated that she was going towards the market when she was approached by her acquaintance named Sonu who was on a bike.Â
While Sonu offered her the job which she refused to, Sonu called up four of his accomplices who were consuming alcohol nearby. The accomplices reached the spot in a jeep and forcefully abducted the victim. The accused drove the jeep to a deserted field where all five raped her.
