KVS eases norms for admission to Class XI, reduces CGPA cut-off

In order to make it easy for the students who are looking to get admission into central schools, the board of governors of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) in a high-level meeting has eased the norms for admission to Class XI by reducing the cut-off Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

The meeting, held on 26 July, was chaired by KVS chairman and minister of human resource development MM Pallam Raju.

A senior KVS official said the institute was receiving representations from parents and students across the country to reduce the cut-off CGPA for non-KV students in Class XI. ‘Looking at the trouble which non-KV students were facing during the admissions to central schools, the board of governors of KVS has reduced the CGPA for Science and Commerce stream students by two per cent. The existing CGPA required is 8.0. For the humanities students, the board has kept the CGPA at 5.4, whereas existing is minimum 6.4.’

Sources added that due to high CGPA of 8 in science stream, students failed to get admission in Class XI, while many KVS schools in the same field had admitted only 10 to 15 students in a class.

There are around 1,09,035 central schools running across the country and 11, 21, 012 students are studying in these schools.
