None hurt in fire near CESC's Taratala office

Kolkata: A fire broke out around 2:20 pm at Taratala Crossing on Friday afternoon, a team of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) from their south west regional office at Taratala Crossing, which under Taratala police station, immediately rushed to the

spot and informed the fire brigade.

It was found that the fire had broken into various roadside shops selling fast food, fruits and cold drinks.

It is suspected that the fire broke out from a kerosene stove, which was used for cooking, in a fruit shop.

The supply of electricity to the affected area was immediately discontinued as a safety measure.

The electric supply corporation deployed their own firefighting arrangements to douse the fire.

The CESC team of employees and officers, with the help of their fire extinguishers and hose pipes, doused the fire in a short time.

The electric supply corporation also extended support to the fire brigade team which arrived at the spot. Due to the intensity of fire, glass panes and a part of the fibre cable network of CESC's Taratala office got damaged.
