The West Bengal Group D Recruitment Board on Saturday uploaded the result in its website www.wbgdrb.in. An applicant needs to key in the application number and date of birth after logging into the website to know whether he or she has qualified to get the job.
Out of 24.87 lakh job applicants, as many as 19,449 were called for interview that took place in two phases and 5,400 have cleared the same. After completion of the interview stage of the recruitment process, the job aspirants had been eagerly waiting for the day when the result would be declared.
It is learnt that a list containing names of 5,400 candidates has already been sent to the state Secretariat, Nabanna, and the process to send the appointment letters to those who have passed will begin soon. Recruitment in the remaining 600 seats in the particular category could not be done as there was no candidate fulfilling all the required criteria.
It may be recalled that in 2015, the Mamata Banerjee government had decided to recruit 60,000 Group D employees in phases. It was also decided to recruit the same number of people in Group C as well. The examination that was held on May 20 in 2017 to recruit 6,000 people and the result was published on Saturday was the first step towards giving 60,000 Group D jobs.
It may be recalled that the Mamata Banerjee government had initiated all steps after coming to power in 2011 to ensure creation of job opportunities. The state government has been ensuring private investment in the state on one hand for creation of job opportunities, while on the other, major measures have been taken for the same in the government sector as well.
In almost all the Cabinet meetings, new posts are created and decisions have been taken to fulfill the vacant posts. Steps have also been initiated to fill up the newly-created posts as early as possible.
