First batch of 450 Haj pilgrims to arrive in city on September 1

Kolkata: The first batch of 450 Haj pilgrims from Madina will arrive at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on September 1.

"The first Haj flight (SV 572625) will take off from Madina airport and land in Kolkata airport on September 1, 2019. It will reach at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at 11.05 pm. All arrangements have been made for pilgrims' comfort and safety," Ejaz Ahmed, media coordinator of West Bengal State Haj Committee, told Millennium Post.

Altogether 11,594 pilgrims (11574 adults, 16 children and 4 infants) went for Haj from Bengal this year.

The arrival of Haj pilgrims at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport will continue till September 13, 2019. "West Bengal State Haj Committee chairman Nadimul Haque will receive Haj pilgrims at the airport. Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim is also expected to be present during the occasion," Ahmed said.

To cater Haj pilgrims, West Bengal State Haj Committee volunteers will be present at the airport. Flight information and other essential details about the voyage would be available on wbhaj.com.

The first Haj flight (SV 5425) took off from Kolkata at 6.25 pm on July 25, 2019. The departure of Haj pilgrims continued till August 5, 2019.

Like previous year, this year also, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will provide breakfast and special dry fruits packets to Haj pilgrims.

Haj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Muslims are expected to make at least one trip to Hajduring their lifetime if they can afford to do so.
