‘Only we know what problems we face here. He is the only leader who has shown courage to help us fight the menace of drug trafficking and sex racket run openly on streets and parks here,’ said S L Gangia, president of RWA of J-4 and J-3 blocks. ‘Bharkha Singh seems to be acting on the guidance of the Congress party. She must be removed from her post to ensure fair investigation,’ added Gangia. He added he has pictures and video recordings to show that by evening foreigners and their Indian customers openly indulge in prostitution and drugs on roadside and parks.
‘Why is Barkha Singh still holding her post? Everybody knows she was made DCW chief just as she is a Congress leader and was MLA from RK Puram. People have voted her out as she did nothing for the area. Now she must resign if she has any moral values,’ said Vaishali (23), a resident of the area and a student of Delhi University. ‘It’s a dangerous situation for our kids and youths in the area. Bargaining for sex and drugs is done in the open. We are not against any race, but we are against criminals,’ she said.
The residents of the area sent Millennium Post several pictures and videos in which foreigners are shown fighting on roads with locals and among themselves and peddling drugs. People in the area also question why Singh has not summoned union minister Shashi Tharoor whose wife was found dead under mysterious circumstances. ‘Her son has said that she can’t commit suicide. Her relatives are demanding a CBI inquiry but DCW is mum on the matter,’ said Prashant Singh, a resident of the area.
Bharti on Saturday questioned the hurry Barkha Singh shown in the Khirki Extension case. ‘I never saw so much promptness of the DCW in any other case. Barkha Singh is from the Congress... so she is doing all this,’ he said. In another statement, Bharti alleged a section of the media is being paid for carrying news against him. He also said that he would drag DCW to court for trying to defame him.
Meanwhile, AAP has uploaded some videos on its website in which an African national is seen running naked on the road and policemen are trying to nab him. Other videos show drugs in cars of foreigners on the night of raid. ‘Bharti is deliberately being attacked in a planned manner to save the politician-police-mafia nexus… to protect the sex and drug racket in the area,’ said Gopal Rai, member of political affairs committee of AAP.
Barkha Singh, wife of former Congress MLA Ashok Singh, was given a ticket in 2008 after her husband was dropped by the Congress on corruption charges.
