On a day when the country is discussing the verdict on Aarushi-Hemraj double murder, Hemraj, a Nepalese immigrant making a living in one of Delhi’s upcoming satellite townships has been relegated to ignominy even in death.
Hemraj Banjade’s family, which lives at Arghakhanchi village in Nepal, has been quoted in the media demanding justice. Hemraj’s family is currently struggling to make ends meet after the murder of the sole earning member.
On 16 May, when Aarushi Talwar’s body was found in the morning, the needle of suspicion had turned to Hemraj. But within hours the accused had turned the victim after his body was discovered lying on the terrace of the Jalvayu Vihar residence of Talwars.
Later in 2011, Hemraj’s wife Khumkala had come from Agrakanchi to Ghaziabad and had moved a plea in the CBI court alleging that the Talwars had murdered her husband.
