Heads set to roll in Delhi BJP if party tastes defeat

Heads are certainly going to roll in Delhi state unit of BJP if the February 7 election results go as per exit polls which predicted a landslide for the Aam Aadmi Party.

Tension was visible on the faces of BJP office bearers on Sunday. And if the saffron party does not perform well on Tuesday, state BJP chief Satish Upadhyay and party in-charge Prabhat Jha are set to face music. Fingers may also be raised on BJP’s national president Amit Shah as party functionaries
are waiting finger crossed, for February 10, when the results would be announced.

On Sunday, Delhi unit of the party summoned reports from all its leaders at the state party head office. The meeting was attended by senior RSS leader and BJP’s national organisational secretary Ramlal, Delhi BJP president, CM candidate Kiran Bedi, veteran leader V K Malhotra and Rajya MP Vijay Goel among others. “As per the reports of the candidates, we are forming the government,” said Vijay Goel.

He however refused to give any figure. The tension was also clear on the faces of most of the BJP candidates who came to report at the party office.

“Whatever were the reasons, we could not mobilise ground level workers up to the expectations. The energy and enthusiasm which was seen among the workers during the Lok Sabha polls was totally missing,” said some BJP candidates.

According to sources, Upadhyay would be the first target if the results went against the party expectations. However his supporters defend him saying as he was not given any major responsibility.

Jha was the link between the center and state BJP leadership in this election. BJP has not conducted organisational elections since last many years at district and state levels.
