German Audi powers Rs 1.3-cr RS 7 Sportback into India

The car was unveiled by Joe King, Head (India operations)  and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who bought the first car with his favourite licence plate number ending 2727.

Noting that Audi had started the year with the historic achievement of being the first-ever luxury car manufacturer in India to cross the 10,000 sales mark, Joe King said the Audi RS 7 Sportback is expected to establish new benchmarks in the performance sportscar segment in India with its powerful biturbo V8 engine.

‘This is the fastest car in its class and segment, though we have some  more exotic products coming in soon,’ he said to questions while highlighting the new car’s performance in sprinting zero to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds with top speed of 305 km/h, hybrid aluminium design for low weight and ‘cylinder on demand’ technology ensuring low CO2 levels and better fuel efficiency.

Audi light-weight construction technology, partly-tinted LED headlights, high-gloss black honeycomb grill, add-on parts in matt aluminium and flared sills, set sporty accents, permanent all-wheel drive system with specifically tuned air suspension, MMI navigation and touch made this car a choice for all including auto enthusiasts, he said.

Audi produces vehicles in Aurangabad (Maharashtra) and the Audi Group, in 2012, generated a 48.8 billion Euros revenue with operating profit of Euro 5.4 billion in worldwide sales in over 100 markets, he said, adding that the company will also produce cars in Foshan (China), Brazil and Mexico by 2016.
