This festive season, Sheraton New Delhi celebrates the spirit of Christmas with a unique artistic homage to India’s rich tribal heritage. Presenting ‘The Ethos Tree’, a magnificent Christmas tree crafted entirely from sustainable bamboo strips and inspired by the forgotten tribal arts of India.

The 13ft multi-tiered standing tall in the heart of the hotel, the tree is a masterpiece that weaves together the essence of traditional craftsmanship and modern sustainability. Adorned with vibrant patterns and intricate motifs drawn from India’s tribal folk art such as the ‘Manjusha Art’ of Bihar to the intricate storytelling of ‘Cherial Scrolls’ from Telangana, the ‘The Ethos Tree’ celebrates art forms such as ‘Kurumba Paintings’ of Tamil Nadu, ‘Paitkar’ from Jharkhand and ‘Bhil Art’ of Madhya Pradesh. Other styles include ‘Mandala’ from Sikkim, ‘Chittara’ from Karnataka and ‘Kavad Painting’ from Rajasthan and many more. The tree serves as a tribute to the cultural legacy of Indigenous communities often overlooked in contemporary celebrations.

“For Sheraton New Delhi, this tree is a symbol of unity and resilience - a reminder that the beauty of the holiday season lies not just in celebration but in reflection. It invites everyone to marvel at the beauty of diversity, the power of sustainability and the traditions that bring us all together. With this installation, we aim to bring attention to the beauty and importance of preserving these age-old art forms.”, said Amit Kumar, Area Manager of Welcomhotels North and General Manager of Sheraton New Delhi.

The use of bamboo, a sustainable and eco-friendly material, reflects Sheraton New Delhi’s commitment to environmental responsibility while showcasing the versatile artistry of Indian craftsmanship. The intricate designs on the tree draw inspiration from various tribal traditions, creating a stunning fusion of heritage and festivity.
