Holi: When fun ends, care begins
Experts believe it’s necessary to work more after Holi celebration than in the preparation phase, as this festival brings along unwanted skin damage and hair problems.
Undoubtedly Holi is the most awaited festival in India, which brings a lot of enthusiasm for people of all ages. But, at the same time, it also invites an unavoidable hassle of getting rid of the colours used while playing Holi.
Taking this grave problem into consideration, experts list down easy ways to deal with the 'post-Holi' struggle:
Certain precautions are always advised to be taken before you jump into the splash of colours, but Neeleshwari Basak, Owner of WorldWide institute of Grooming and Peagents, says that it is very crucial to realise the importance of post-festive skin care too. She believes that Holi is a festival in which it is necessary to work more after the celebrations, than in the preparation phase.
Rather than scrubbing off the colour with soap, the beauty expert suggests to use a mild cleanser on the skin, followed by applying a light moisturising cream.
Listing some natural ways, she tells that one can even make a face pack using two tablespoons of calamine powder, and mixing it with a few drops of honey and rose water. "Apply it on the face and leave it till it dries. Afterward, wash it with cold water and apply a moisturiser," she recommends.
Obviously if you did not have your hair covered, you would need hair tips too. Basak suggests to properly rinse your hair with luke warm water.
Make a simple hair pack by soaking a few fenugreek seeds in four tablespoons of curd. Apply this pack on your scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. For deep conditioning, you can also apply a mixture of honey and olive oil. After that, just wash the hair with a good shampoo.
Shikhee Agrawal, Head- Training, The Body Shop India, also lists some tips and tricks:
She suggests that one should just rinse their face with plain cold water at first, and then apply a cleansing cream or a face lotion all over it. This would help in deep cleaning the pores of your skin. It is very important that all the impurity and toxic substances release out of your skin pores. So it is advisable to use a cleanser containing less of chemical elements and more of natural ingredients like Tea Tree.
"After a full day exposure to the sun and harmful hues and toxic elements flying in the air all throughout the day, our eyes become really stressful. Apply good and efficient eye cream full of vitamin E before dozing off to sleep. This will make you feel fresh next morning, and will also clear your dark circles overnight," she states.
