'To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear' – Buddha. Despite knowing that health is an integral part of our life, and how important it is to take good care of it with full diligence, there are a lot of things we are doing wrong in our day-to-day life. Therefore, it is time that we keep a check on our lifestyle and get rid of these bad habits.
Have a look at a few of these:
Eating junk food: We all know that eating junk is bad for health, but we can't help our taste buds and the laziness to make food fight the bad habit.
Sleeping late: There was a time when people started their day at 4 am in the morning, but with the changing times, we began to sleep at this hour.
Spending time on screens: This we might not even realise in our consciousness that we are doing wrong. But can you measure the time you spend while watching TV, checking the phone or surfing the internet?
Skipping meals: As much as it sounds normal, you have no idea how harmful it can prove for your health. If you are caught up in work or running late – missing on meals is not the solution at all.
Not drinking enough water: We all have seen Hema Malini pouring water in an advertisement and telling us how important it is to drink water. But do we actually intake enough water every day?
Skip walking: Running late, too lazy, too tired – we have every excuse to avoid walking. All thanks to the elevators, escalators, and rickshaws that we cannot even walk a small distance?
Eating at Office desk: While you think that it makes you a workaholic and complete your work on time, eating food on the desk affects your health in a bad way. A study even showed that a person needs to be fully satisfied when they eat food, but when you eat while working, you tend to go and munch on food after a small while.
eating fast: Also, with the above detrimental habit, you develop a pattern of eating quickly – which is another unhealthy habit. Slow down a bit on your schedule and keep a check on how you eat, because eating fast can result in overeating, less chewing and big bites – which are all bad habits in their own.
Nail biting: You might have got scolded, punished, beaten up for biting your nails. But ever wondered why? There are many health factors involved. By biting your nails, you may get some cold or immune disease while putting fingers in your mouth, you intake several germs too.
Sitting for long: What to do if you have a 9 to 5 desk job, you have no option than to sit, right? But on what cost, your health? Sitting for longer periods hampers your metabolism, affects your heart and fuels your weight gain.
