Father asks why son was denied admission by DU

In what appears to be either a case of carelessness on part of Delhi University officials or anomoly in the admission process itself, despite meeting the admission criteria, a student has been denied admission to the Bachelor in Management Studies (BMS) course run by the university.

Awadesh Kumar Singh, from Shakarpur area in Delhi, has alleged that his son Aman Singh Shrinet was denied admission to the university though he fulfilled the admission criteria set Delhi University.
Talking to Millennium Post, Awadesh Kumar said that Aman, who’s roll number is 41,915 and revised category rank is 917 was at number 134 in the serial order amongst 200 shortlisted candidates.
Awadesh said that Aman participated in the counseling process and the father-son duo were present at the venue from 2 pm to 6 pm.

‘The counselling team closed the admission process for the general category students with Sanchit Kukreja at serial no. 137. But the counselling team refused to give the admission slip to my son while my son’s name appeared at serial number 134,’ Awadesh alleged.

He went on to say that when he asked the college authorities to give him a reason for denying the admission, Awadesh was told that his son’s age was not sufficient for joining the course. He said if his son didn’t meet the age criterion, it meant that something was wrong with the counselling process. ‘What has happened is not fair. It will spoil my son’s career,’ Awadesh complained.

‘I still want to know why they didn’t give admission to my son while his name appeared at serial no. 134 and admission was closed at serial no.137. Why and how they gave admission to serial number 135, 136 and 137 but not to my son at serial no.134,’ he added.

When asked for an explanation, dean of Faculty of Management Sciences RS Dhankar said, ‘I am not the right person to be talk on this issue. Talk to the administration.’
