He stated, “I want my work, my effort, my intentionality and my honesty to speak for itself. It is what it is.” This decision stems from his belief that the story and the craft behind his roles should be the main focus, rather than his family background.

Reflecting on his first project, ‘Faraaz’, Zahaan shared that he chose not to highlight his familial connections during its release. He said it would have been tone-deaf to make the film about Shashi Kapoor’s grandson, as the story deserved attention for what it was, not because of who he was related to.
