‘We are going to appeal to all doctors and paramedical staff in the city to display posters saying - I like Harsh Vardhan as chief minister of Delhi- in their clinics and also sport such stickers on their vehicles,’ said K K Kohli, general secretary of DMA. ‘We are going to form teams of doctors to campaign in various assembly constituencies and convince voters to vote for the BJP,’ he said explaining his strategy and emphasising that the fraternity will ensure that maximum number of seats go to the BJP.
DMA, which is the Delhi chapter of IMA, has over 50,000 allopathic doctors as members in addition to over 50,000 members from traditional medicines, homeopathy, dentistry and physiotherapy.
‘We have formed a team of 25 doctors to campaign in his constituency besides dozens of doctors and paramedical professionals who reside in Krishna Nagar area are already campaigning for Vardhan,’ said Kohli. He added: ‘We will work to make him chief minister.’
The association claims over 10 lakh people in the city are associated with medicines and a majority of them will support Vardhan.
‘We should take a resolve that an educated, honest, dedicated and capable person becomes Delhi’s chief minister,’ said Harish Gupta, former president of DMA. ‘We are already running a campaign on social media ‘Mr Honest, Mr Clean, Dr Harsh Vardhan, Yahi Hai Right Choice’,’ he said.
The association is also planning to call up famous doctors across the nation to campaign for Vardhan in Delhi.
