Delhi govt to intensify drive against drug and sex rackets

The issue could snowball into a national issue as both Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleague Manish Sisodia emphasised that the party will raise this issue at national level.
‘It’s a big issue. There are several high profile people who are involved in this racket. It’s not about suspension or transfer of a station house officer rank police official but big shots who are behind these rackets,’ Manish Sisodia told Millennium Post. ‘We will not relent and such raids will be carried out in the future too,’ he added.

When asked about his plans to take these issues forward to other parts of the country, Sisodia said, ‘We have just planned a small raid and were unable to get an SHO transferred. So it is too early to reveal anything’.

Earlier in the day, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged the direct involvement of Delhi police officers with drug and sex mafia. ‘The drug and sex rackets in any area of Delhi is not being run without the help of police. Police officers take money from them and allow these things to carry on in their areas,’ alleged Kejriwal.

When asked if he will confine his fight against such rackets to Delhi, Kejriwal replied, ‘No. I will take it to the national level’. Regarding question on whether this drive against sex and drug rackets will find its way to their election manifesto for the general elections, he said, ‘I will do so’. He however refused to explain his strategy.

Besides, chief minister and his cabinet ministers, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh and Yogender Yadav also joined the dharna late in the evening along with the party MLAs and supporters. As AAP workers informed him in the evening that police are not allowing his supporters to come to the venue, Kejriwal asked them to sit on dharna at the very place where they were stopped.
