Former Delhi chief minister and convenor of Aam Admi Party Arvind Kejriwal on Monday failed to convince Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung to dissolve the assembly and announce fresh elections. Jung, however, decided to invite leaders of other parties to search the possibilities of government formation before sending a detailed report to the President Pranab Mukherjee.
‘Making accusations of horse trading, they (Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MLAs) asked for the dissolution of the assembly. The LG said that he would take into account the full situation and after due consultations with other parties send a detailed report to the President for his consideration,’ said a statement from L G secretariat.Â
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal along with 24 MLAs met with LG and appraised him about the political situation in the city in around 25 minutes meeting on Monday morning.Â
AAP MLA Rajesh Garg was not present in the delegation while Vinod Kumar who is now a rebel of AAP was also not present. The MLAs after meeting with LG went to Rajghat to seek the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi. ‘The  dream to run all the constitutional bodies on his whims and fancies like he did during 49 days tenure as Delhi chief minister. He has exercised his right to resign and now the decision on dissolution of assembly and holding fresh elections lies with LG,’ said Satish Upadhayay, Delhi BJP president to Millennium Post.Â
Upadhayay made it clear that neither he nor any of his party member is in talk with any other party MLA to form coalition government. In the present Delhi assembly which is under suspended animation, there are 28 MLAs of AAP, 29 with BJP and allies, eight with Congress and three others. Three seats are vacant due to resignation of three BJP MLAs who were elected as MPs.Â
