Constructing structures on Delhi Development Authority (DDA) land, the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) management committee at Sreshtha Vihar is facing allegations of running a nursery school on illegally encroached DDA land.
Manish Aggarwal, the complainant said, ‘It was found that a piece of land in front of plot no 151 and an adjoining park in Sreshtha Vihar has been encroached upon by DAV Public School. The fully functional nursery wing run by the school has been constructed up to the 2nd floor. As per the records available in this branch, no site for a nursery school at Sreshtha Vihar has been allotted to DAV management committee by the Institutional Land Branch.’
Aggarwal added that the same has been confirmed by the assistant director of education on 19 May 2008. ‘The plot has not been allotted by DDA to the schools so far,’ he said.
In response to these accusations, Prem Lata Garg, principal of DAV Public School said, ‘ I don’t know anything about it.’ When called upon again for further clarification, she was unavailable for comment.
Aggarwal said, ‘The school is running two separate plots. A plot measuring 5454 sq. metres, which has been allotted by DDA, of which DAV society was allotted to use only 2180 sq. metres for school buildings and 3270 sq. metres for playground. However, the school has built structures, beyond the 2180 sq metres that was allotted for buildings. Only the basketball court has been left as an open playground.’
Amit Singla, directorate of education said, ‘Yes we have received the complaint regarding this matter. We have referred the case to DDA. We have received the complaint regarding schools financial problems and we have referred it to the CAG.’
Citing out the clarification, Neemodhar, DDA spoke person said, ‘If these allegations were found to be true, we will take appropriate action.’
