In her resignation letter she allayed: “AAP has lost trust in its own founding principles and the constitution and system of Lokpal. It has shattered the hopes and dreams of millions of common people.” The party also does not have even a single woman in its Political Affairs Committee (PAC), the party’s highest decision making body, where majority of the members reiterated their strong support to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Earlier, the party had removed Atishi Marlena from the post of party spokesperson; she was the party’s best known female spokesperson on television. Marlena had replaced Shazia Ilmi after the latter’s exit from AAP. According to the non-partisan volunteers, the exit of ‘loyalist’ Marlena has been due to her ‘non-aggressive stand’ in the case of Yadav and Bhushan.
The Aam Aadmi Party’s key leader and founding member Shazia Ilmi had also resigned, blaming ‘cronyism’ in the political party.
“There is a clique of people, who have surrounded Arvind Kejriwal and are controlling all the decisions. Even I can’t go and meet him, leave aside the party volunteers. There is no internal democracy in the party and this is sad in a party that claims to stand for Swaraj,” she said during her resignation after the Lok Sabha elections.
One of the founding members of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Madhu Bhaduri, had also quit the party, alleging of mistreatment towards the women leaders.
