BSP's stellar show in Haridwar panchayat polls

After winning 16 out of 47 seats,  the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) emerged as the winner in the Haridwar Panchayat  polls as final counting on third day concluded on Thursday. After UP panchayat elections, the BSP's stellar performance in Uttarakhand has infused a new spirit among party workers who were eagerly waiting to taste victory since the 2014 general elections. 

The BSP's performance has left two major parties in the state – Congress and BJP – in a thinking mode. 

BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday congratuated her cadres for registering a convincing performance in the Uttarakhand panchayat elections. Mayawati claimed that her party emerged as number one party in the village polls, especially in the plains of the state which also goes to polls within a year. The party claimed of winning 16 seats in Haridwar to emerge as the number one party.
