BJP fields five sitting councillors

The party has also fielded four Poorvanchali candidates and five women candidates in the election.
The prominent Jat leader and standing committee chairman of South Delhi Municipal Corporation Rajesh Gehlot has been given ticket from Matiala assembly segment.
‘The party has done justice this time by fielding councillors who are the backbone of the vote bank. The list is completely balanced and we will come to power,’ said Gehlot who was denied ticket last time as the party did not field any sitting councillors.
Apart from Gehlot, one more councillor from South DMC, Anil Sharma, who was former deputy mayor in MCD has also been give ticket from RK Puram assembly seat.
From North Delhi Municipal Corporation, the party has fielded three sitting councilors — Mahendra Nagpal from Wazirpur and two women councilors — Shusheela Bagadi from Sultanpur Mazara and deputy mayor of North DMC Poornima Vidyarthi from Patel Nagar constituency segment.
In addition to these two women, the party has fielded three more women candidates — former MCD mayor Aarti Mehra from Malviya Nagar, Suman Gupta from Chandni Chowk and Shikha Rai from Kasturba Nagar. The only minority candidate is Mohammed Nizamuddin from Matia Mahal.
Four Poorvanchal candidates have also found their names in the list.
