SDPO’s office inaugurated in Malda district

The much-awaited office of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO)

was inaugurated by Ajoy Kumar, Additional Director General (ADG) of Police and Inspector General (IG) of Police on Tuesday afternoon in Jadupur area under the Kaliachak Police Station in Malda.

The decision of creating a post of SDPO in Kaliachak is to get a stronger hold on crime prone areas of Kaliachak.

Among the six police stations that fall under Sadar subdivision of Malda, Mothabari, Kaliachak and Baishnabnagar have been in news for illegal activities for a long time. In 2019, Alok Rajoria, the then Superintendent of Police, Malda had taken charge of the district and made specific plans for these areas. Creating the post of an SDPO was part of that plan.

Public have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that crime will be controlled. Sambhav Jain is the first SDPO.
